I'keep it brief. Usually when we go on holidays we either cant wait to come home or we certainly would not go back. The reverse is true regarding South Africa and in particular the Commodore Hotel. Staff more than helpful and friendly. Hotel just the right size to make you feel at home. Service was not a problem no matter what you wanted. Can't wait to go back.

Although the location is good, very near to the Waterfront and all it has to offer, this hotel is masquerading as a 5 star and is not really 4 star. Service poor, cleanliness and amenities in the rooms poor. Pool area basic with dirty sun beds. Food cooked on the BBQ was raw. Double booked a manicure in the wellness centre and only contacted 1 hour before the due time.

This is really a 3 star hotel with aspirations for higher. the service is pleasant if a little amateur. The location is good. The room is decent but very bland and almost completely without character. The breakfast buffet is superb and the pool is quite big for Capetown> if you get a good deal than stay here but if not there are much better places to stay>

If you are looking to be in a nice area as close to the V&A Waterfront as possible, without paying the prices to stay right on the Waterfront, this is the place to stay. Location was just a block away from the waterfront, service was wonderful, nice evening ambiance, GREAT complimentary breakfast buffet, nice rooms, and overall great price. I would highly recommend this hotel for a short or long term stay in Cape Town.

There are more luxurious hotels in Cape Town and the Commodore should not be placed in the top notch bracket. However, the location is perfect -- less than two minutes from the Waterfront and the staff are great, friendly and helpful. The hotel's close proximity to the new stadium currently being built for the 2010 World Cup makes it a great base for football fans planning their trip.

The Commodore is located within a 5 minute walk of the V&A waterfront, shops, restaurants, etc. The staff was incredibely service oriented! Food was good, especially the hearty breakfast and the African Buffet. Rooms were nice and spacious, though not overly luxurious..clean, nice, but not spectacular. The staff, service and location more than make up for this! Give them a try! You won't be disappointed.

Clean rooms, great location, but hotel does not keep iron or internet cable in rooms, makes it a hassle to do these activities- especially if on a long stay. The staff did not replace toilet paper for 3 days so eventually ran out. Nothing too major but inconsistant with the rating. Breakfast buffet was good.

We have stayed at various 4 & 5 star rated hotels in the world, which has included hotels and guest houses within S.Africa. My wife and I stayed for 3 nights at the Commodore in March. On arrival we were allocated a room on the 6th floor which is the hotels executive floor. The size of the room was adequate with a view of the Waterfront, although the better view is from rooms on the other side of the hotel looking at Table Mountain. The staff were very attentive, however we felt that some of the reception staff needed a personality injection and came across as somewhat officious. The location is excellent for walking to the waterfront (5 mins). As a comparisson we stayed at the Winchester Mansions last year. Although you are further out, we would rate this higher than the Commodore. Overall The Commodore came across as more of a business hotel.

Having rented an apartment in Cape Town for a couple of weeks we decided to finish our trip in a hotel for a couple of days. There is nothing bad I can say about this place. The staff are friendly; the room was big and had a stunning view of the pool and ocean beyond. The bed was exceptionally comfortable with very high quality linens. The lounge and pool menus were extensive but the same price as eating out locally so no 5 star premium food prices. I rather enjoyed the Chocolate Macadamia Nut spring rolls. They came with ice cream. The gym is right by the pool and looked good although I didn't use it. If I have one comment it would be that although the valet parking runs all night there is no one to push the buttons to call the lift in the evening - Disgusting! (That's a joke for those who don't get irony). In other words, I can highly recommend this hotel.

Zeer vriendelijk personeel.
